The Ultimate Visa Requirement Finder

Ever wonder if you, as an American, need to apply for a visa before visiting China? Or perhaps you’re a German national wondering how long you can get a visa to trek through India. Or as a Canadian doing a family trip (with a Chinese wife and kids born in the US and thus US citizens), thinking how difficult it would be to drive across eastern Europe?

Emirates, the flagship airline of Dubai, has an excellent online tool for answering all of those questions and more — the innocently titled Find Visa Requirements page of allows you to input your nationality, place of residence, and countries that you will transit or visit, to receive a full explanation of what you can get on arrival, what must be applied for in advance, and the length of any visa. While it naturally shouldn’t be treated as the gospel on what visas are required, it is a very handy guide to knowing what to expect when seeking to travel, and seeking to get a visa beforehand.

About Curzon

Lord George Nathaniel Curzon (1859 - 1925) entered the British House of Commons as a Conservative MP in 1886, where he served as undersecretary of India and Foreign Affairs. He was appointed Viceroy of India at the turn of the 20th century where he delineated the North West Frontier Province, ordered a military expedition to Tibet, and unsuccessfully tried to partition the province of Bengal during his six-year tenure. Curzon served as Leader of the House of Lords in Prime Minister Lloyd George's War Cabinet and became Foreign Secretary in January 1919, where his most famous act was the drawing of the Curzon Line between a new Polish state and Russia. His publications include Russia in Central Asia (1889) and Persia and the Persian Question (1892). In real life, "Curzon" is a US citizen from the East Coast who has been a financial analyst, freelance translator, and university professor; he is currently on assignment in Tokyo.
