Stalin the art critic

Ginger bastard Radek, if he had not pissed against the wind, if he had not been angry, he would still be alive.

This was scrawled by the Soviet tyrant on a sketching of a naked man, referring to Karl Radek. Apparently, late in his life, Stalin took to defacing drawings with his own commentary. A collection of classical nude sketches marred with various critiques of both the pieces themselves and some of the unfortunate to meet their demise at the hands of Stalin is on display in Moscow after five decades of being hidden away.

Would there be any doubt remaining in regards to Stalin’s psychotic nature (which remains celebrated by some in todays Russia) I’d say his apparently gleeful approach here lays them to rest.

Your comments and the article on this is full of a lot of speculation. Who hasn't scribbled on something, did some graffiti or wrote some funny thoughts here and there at one time in their life? Are you a fucking psychologist? No, your are an idiot anarchist that thinks he knows it all. Fuck you. Stalin owns you.

Haha... arrogance has a way of showing itself, in both Stalin's comments as well as others.

Can you imagine people like Stalin and Hitler not having an overbloated ego?

Interesting post, Munro. I think you struck a nerve. Who would have guessed such a thing in a post about Stalin? And that last line from the troll, it is so bizarre it is funny.

Does a real university really employ Marcel to teach or is he a museum exhibit on Stalinism?

Stalin was a habitual scribbler of marginalia and he had a fairly dry, if coarse, sense of humor. We have probably lost the best examples of this as both Beria and then Khrushchev ransacked Stalin's private archives after the dictator's death to remove incriminating documents about themselves.
