Following up on this post, a group at Saint Anselm College went through the I, Claudius series almost a decade ago and archived their review online here.

I particularly love the “evidence charts” (such as episode one, seen here) where the historical source for every scene from each episode is reviewed and rated for accuracy. If only modern historical dramas were as accurate as to be able to undergo this level of review!
(Having said that, I, Claudius can be faulted that its ultimate underpinings of poisonings and conspiratorial intrigue that dominates the first six episodes are not based on true historical record. And the reign of Caligula is way over the top from historical record. And Claudius himself was no angel when he came to power. And on and on. But such is life when it comes to putting history into television.)
