As many of you know I am a Mac (as opposed to a PC) and when I am not cataloguing the latest developments of Japanese military policy, or thinking about theoretical FutureWarTM, I am keeping up with the latest Apple news. One of the best sources out there is MacBreak Weekly, a great podcast that is sponsored by Audible.com. Each episode they make an audiobook recommendation and this week my worlds collided as the illustrious and “internationally-beloved technology pundit” Andy Ihnatko recommended The Places In Between by Rory Stewart. Sounds like an interesting book. Here’s Andy describing it:

I have bought many an audiobook from Audible on Andy’s recommendation, and all have been great. I thought I would pass this on to everyone else. For those that have already read/listened to the book, please give us your comments below.

I’ve had it on my amazon wish list for awhile along with his other book about serving in Iraq. Will have to get around to it one of these days

I would recommend following it up with his other book, “Prince of the Marshes”, about his time in Iraq (as head of a province or two).
Then, you may sit back and think “What have I been up to?”

In all seriousness, the second book is quite good, also.
