Chinese aid for soldiers to stand at attention

The Daily Mail reports on the Chinese People’s Paramilitary Police and its preparations for the Olympics. During drills pins are placed in the officer’s collars and crosses strapped to their backs to aid in posture-building.

(Para-)Military forces around the world — developed or otherwise — use what civilians think of as “barbaric” practices during training. It seems to me that the journo that wrote this article is trying to appeal to the “morality” of regular Brits. There have been some accusations that these have been ‘shopped. Agitprop? IO? You decide. See the rest of the pics here.

H/T to The Last Prussian.

Is it my imagination, or do the soldiers in that last photo look like they’re doing the Bunny Hop in formation?
