Former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith, who served from July 2001 until August 2005, has recently published a new book, War and Decision: Inside the Pentagon at the Dawn of the War on Terrorism.
It details his role in the Defense Department and the events and policy making process during his time on the job. My copy is on the way so I can’t give you a detailed review of the book yet however Feith has given several radio interviews, the longest of which was, three hours with conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt. I highly recommend it to all Coming Anarchy readers who want a deeper and more detailed look into the policy making and thinking from pre 9/11 to the middle of the Iraq war. I’ve uploaded my podcast copies of it for readers to listen to, and decide whether to purchase the book themselves.Clock below to download Douglas Feith’s 3 hour interview with Hugh Hewitt:

Adrian added these pithy words on 25 Apr 08 at 12:15 pmI am still disgusted that Georgetown hired Feith, but at least he isn’t coming back next year. Reportedly when Feith came in and was given an office, Tenet, also a professor here at Gtown, demanded a new office further away from Feith’s.
IJ added these pithy words on 25 Apr 08 at 2:08 pmDouglas Feith is the author of War And Decision: Inside The Pentagon At The Dawn Of The War On Terrorism. He was number three at the Pentagon for the four crucial years that began the Bush administration, saw the beginning of the war. He joins me now to talk about this controversial and compelling account of what went on in the Pentagon and the Bush administration from 9/11 forward.

IJ added these pithy words on 26 Apr 08 at 7:32 pmAt the end of the interview Douglas Feith says that US leaders must get better at explaining things to the public.
As we see in the ‘piracy’ forum (UNCLOS) just some of the things awaiting explanations are the US hostility to the United Nations and international rules; the selective socialism and the $44 trillion of off-balance sheet liabilities; and the unusual war accounting.
