I’m not sure what to think of the fact that the rack is empty—is it a sign of no supply or lots of demand?

I’d say lots of demand. We have similar signs in rural areas close to cities and towns in New Zealand – great for the gardens! I’ve gotta say, though, that $3 a bag is very expensive. Near where I live in NZ, people are seling big bags for $1.

I believe someone once said that the problem with the “modern West” is that they are more disgusted and shocked by bodily functions than adultery and divorce. Personally, they’re both pretty shitty.
