To my knowledge, Al Qaeda does not attend public debates at Oxford. Targets of opportunity and all that. I’m sure Al Qaeda did show up for a debate they would be vigorously protested.

David Irving may well be a fascist, but I do not agree with using that term for Nick Griffin. Griffin once occupied a very prominent place on the far-right, but has since reformed and is now a very respectable figure in Britain.

And let me ask the British readers: who is the bigger threat to Britain: a WWII revisionist with a small cult following, or the tens of thousands of Muslims in the country who support terrorism?

… if only Muslim terrorists had the kind of response from the “anti-fascist” groups that Irving received at this event.

Indeed they did.Waseda disgraced itself by betraying the freedom at campus.

In all fairness,the archrival of Waseda,Keio University,had also done something of equivalent in 2003.By rejecting Lee Teng Hui’s lecture at annual school festival.

Ace, as I recall the students won in their case suing Waseda. (I believe the amount of damages was JPY10,000, about US$85 for each of the six plaintiffs.)

The school demanded individual info of the students those who wish attending the ceremony of recieveing honorary doctorate to Jiang.

In 1998,When Jiang Zemin visited Japan and awarded honorary doctorate from Waseda University,the school authority demanded the name,adress,phone number and student ID beforehand and sended it to the police for inspections.

When Jiang showed up in the campus,three students protested and eventually got arrested by the police.Students filed law suits against Waseda university for violating freedom at the campus and handing their individual information to the authority without agreement.

The hilarious thing was Jiang refused to accept the honorary doctorate in the very last minuites,by bringing up the fact that university founder,Okuma Shigenobu was the PM who has in responsible for Twenty-One Demand in 1915.

There has never been a significant fascist party in any Anglosphere ocuntry. But there have been Leftists who want to silence people by threats and force. Read about the communists Ronald Reagan dealt with in the late 1940s. Read about the “free speech” activists in the 1960s who shouted down anyone who they targeted. Same thing different day.
