The 2007 bodyguard looks better-fed.

Perhaps they have fewer of them, but give them more food per capita.

Or, perhaps the older guards were actually chopped up and fed to their successors, as a source of protein otherwise not available in NK.

The 2000 bodyguard looks so thin that he could not lift the humongous pistol that he is carrying. The 2007 version looks as if he would defend the great leader with his fists. Perhaps Kim sold the pistols in the US for cash and needed bigger guys?
