Again, I find it odd that current events are being painted as 'Bush's failure' yet again (as I read again in a CNN op-ed). Strange how this 'failure' is attributed to Bush alone, when the two state solution has been a favorite pet of many across the political spectrum (myself included).

What this event really shows, is that the supposedly more extreme supporters of Israel may in fact be right. You can't deal with a terrorist organization that has a goal of Israel's complete destruction and that a two-state solution was a fiction from the beginning. This is the story that the MSM is not promoting, instead using the event to yet again bash Bush for his 'failure'.

Finally the islamist can govern, so they can show to the world that they dont have the key for all the problems of the Middle East. As Islamic Revolution did in Iran.

They dont have the israeli occupacion or the "traitors" there. So they should bring the promised justice, progress and clean the criminality and the corruption.

Good luck.

So, after decades of negotiations & bloodshed, it's to be revealed that all you need to do to be handed formal independence from Israel is to toss restraint & diplomacy out the window, and just be as tyranical as possible. I understand Gaza is barely worth fighting over (from Israel's point of view), but is this really a step forward?

Let this be the end of the two-state mantra. A three state solution is long past due. Hamas can have it's micro-state in Gaza. Fatah can negotiate with Israel for part (%60 give or take) of the West Bank in exchange for support against Hamas there and slow progress towards a quiet non-kleptocracy. If Gaza is recognized as it's own state, any acts of war crossing it's border with Israel can be treated clearly as such. No need for further occupation. They lob missiles into Israel, Israel can respond by cutting off water/electricity, placing a full embargo by sea, and invading just far enough in to impose a buffer zone on Gaza's northern, eastern, and southern borders. World's largest refugee camp indeed.

Now about Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran...

I agree with Alec: 'Arafat's malignant spirit still casts a dark shadow over a group that has further mimiced his policies of graft and kleptocracy. ' It would be almost funny if it wasn't so tragic...

Hamas in full control will show Hamas by its full colors. It won't be pretty, but it will force the world (especially Paelestinians) to acknowledge what they are. It is already forcing the Arab states that their biggest problems aren't Israelis or Americans or even Palestinians (at least directly); it's their Persian paymasters. If Hamas decides to directly confront Israel, any calls for restraint will surely be muted.

Israel may suffer as Fatah and Hamas try to show who hates the Jews the most (and is thus, most 'legitimate'), but it'll be pretty hard to fight Israel when they're fighting each other.

Certainly can't see any two-state solution anytime soon with recent developments. I find it ironic that CNN and others in the MSM are ridiculing Bush over the failure of his pushing the two state solution. After all, most Democrats and many Republicans (and myself) were supportive of the idea. Instead of kicking Bush over the failure, they should be despairing that this supposedly cherished dream (that neither Hamas nor Fatah want-they want it all, no Israel at all) looks to be dead, if not buried for good.

Why does Israel continue to provide electricity and water to Gaza?

Will the victory of Hamas result in more aid or less aid to Gaza?

Israel must be quiet happy. She has been attempting to divide her neighbors for some time, and this is yet another step in that direction.

Jerusalem now borders a post-Naserite dictatorship (Egypt), a Hashemite monarchy (Jordan), a precarious Shia dictatorship (Syria), a Sunni-Catholic democracy (Lebanon), a Muslim Brotherhood quasi-State (Gaza), and a PLO state (West Bank).

Confusion to her enemies, indeed.
