All aboard!

Via Adamu comes this attrocious political ad from the opposition Democrats of Japan.

For context, the party chief is steering the wheel; two influential henchmen predecessors are working the ship; the final words that come up are “Life Restoration” (a play on the “Meiji Restoration”).

And people wonder why Japan doesn’t have a two-party system.

Contrary to its intentions, the first 20 seconds seem to symbolize quite well the sorry state of the DPJ. I almost expected Koizumi to be smiling down from the break in the clouds at the ending.

Certainly a curious ad... I take it from the ending that they have given up!

Yes, notice how Ozawa lets go of the helm, and Kan and Hatoyama rush to support Ozawa and not grab the helm. The message that this ad seem to relay is that the nobody has to be at the helm of the DPJ; the sky will clear by itself.
