A slew of interesting stories are out there today. Here are a few:
- Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Belize and Suriname have signed an agreement on creating a single Caribbean market.
- PINR looks at Finland’s internal struggle as to whether to join NATO or not and how Finland can be used as a barometer for how likely conflict between the East and West is.
- Freedom for Egyptians uncovers the fact that the Muhammed cartoons were printed five months ago IN EGYPT without protests or violence.
- American-Russian Relations looks at Russia’s post-imperial policy towards its near abroad.
- Spengler of Asia Times chimes in with a well thought out article on the cartoon crisis.
- And lastly, Mark pens another fabulous theoretical post on metacognition discussing techniques of prepping your brain for insights, the most frequent dangers for analysts and how to avoid them.

_Finland's reluctance to become a full member of N.A.T.O. has been conditioned by its fear of offending Russia, with which it shares a 1200 kilometer (800 miles) border. [.] Finland is. . . increasingly dependent on energy supplies from Russia, having signed an agreement with Gazprom that provides Finland with gas through 2014 . . .All of the major forces in Finnish politics -- the Social Democrats, the National Coalition and the Center Party -- share a consensus on the desirability of Russian integration._

Whew, a fascinating and frightening subject I would think. As a young man I desire to learn as much as I can about things, but notions like this make me uneasy I may just as well lose my grasp on reality at the same time. In fact it is too easy to see this very subject affecting many of those who make descisions in our world today (Imperial Grunts really is about this in many ways). Where is the line for knowing enough and knowing too much. I've been basically been brought up under the philosphy of balance and how it is essentially the way to approach all subjects. I can only see one having to be very aware of how they balance their education if they wish to avoid this trap.
