UN & US Takeover Brazilian Amazon

While doing research for a different post, I came across this:

Since the middle 80’s the most important rain forest of the world was passed to the responsability of the United States and the United Nations. It is named as FINRAF (Former International Reserve of the Amazon Forest) and its foundation was due to the fact that the Amazon is located in South America, one of the poorest regions on earth and surrounded by irresponsable, cruel and authoritary countries. It was part of eight different and strange countries, which are in the majority of cases, kingdoms of violence, drug trade, illiteracy and a unintelligent and primitive people.

The creation of FINRAF were supported by all nations of G-23 and was really a special mission of our country and a gift of all the world, since the possession of these valuable lands to such primitive countries and people should condemn the lungs of the world to disappearance and full destroying in few years.

We can consider that this area has the most biodiversity in the planet, with a vast number of species of all types of animals and vegetals. The value of this area is unable to calcule, but the planet can be cert that The United States won’t let these Latin American countries explorate and destroy this real ownership of all humanity. FINRAF is like an international park, with very severe rules of exploration.

Never heard about the US taking over the Amazon? If you’re not a Brazilian conspiracy theorist then it’s ok. The US State Department has an interesting website dispelling common conspiracy theories and misinformation about the United States. Examples include:

  • Was Saddam’s Capture Faked?
  • Did the U.S. “Create” Osama bin Laden?
  • AIDS as Bioweapon
  • Al Qaeda and September 11th
  • The 4,000 Jews Rumor
  • Did a Plane Hit the Pentagon?
  • Tsunami Conspiracy Theory
  • Organ Trafficking Myths
  • Depleted Uranium

Enjoy!

That map doesn't look so bad.

But the idea of UN administration of the Amazon... very scary.

Remember how well the UN was handling the quarantine of Isla Sorna at the start of Jurassic Park III?

Why the heck would the current international reserve be the former international reserve, anyway?

Most sad is the fact that this site will be taken seriously by some otherwise intelligent human beings. Brings to mind a common saying by an old SF sergeant major who had been a radio operator (11) and then recon team leader in CCN (MACVSOG) in his younger days: "A mind is a dangerous thing".

Of course it's a joke. The Brazilians would be out of their minds to trust the folks who brought us the wickedly misnamed "Clear Skies Act" and fought so hard to open up the Arctic Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling.

Uh, Sonagi, I think the US has a hell of alot less pollution than Brazil. I doubt that drilling in the Arctic is anywhere equivalent to the amount of clearing that goes on in the rainforest and does Brazil have any air pollution control that comes anywhere remotely close to that of the US? The US at its worst would be better for the rainforest than what goes on now.

But that being said, I agree with you that it would be nuts of the Brazilians to hand the rainforests over to anyone else. It's theirs, even though they do plenty of damage to it themselves. If I were a Brazilian, I would never agree to turning over an ounce of sovereignty to anyone, especially not the UN (nor the US). If foreigners want it to be protected, they can cough up the cash to help keep it that way.

I was not comparing the US to Brazil; rather, I was making the point that the US is unfit to manage the rainforest, an ecosystem so critical to our survival.

well in this part of the globe or the continent we listen that rumor a lot of times.

here is saying that UN wants to control the brazilian amazon, but also the venezuelan amazon ( of the venezuelan state of amazonas) and the triple or the threes borders ( the border the brazil with paraguay and argentina).

really i never believe or listen this propaganda against the "imperialist" that spread here but some facts and somethings i think is stranger.

1-) brazil have started since 2002 to trained their soldiers in guerrilla warfare, and have looking advice and experience in the viet namese army.

2-) brazil have increase in the past years the kind of weapons for a guerilla warfare.

3-) just like a rumor, is saying (here) chavez have promised to lula, that in case o f the UN try to to control the amazon, thebrazilian army can used venezuelan terrytory like basea and refuge, and even venezuelan troop will support and fight the Un forces. and this rumor came or appears when the venezuelan army made a exercises called HURACAN ( hurricane) in that exercise was practiceda suposed a combinated operations with the brazilian army.

well that is the kind of news i received in this part, i have to say in part propaganda, in part trusted news, only i can say is many people including brazilians think that dangers of the UN take the amazon is real and dangerous threat.

It's DISINFORMATION, duckie, not misinformation...a deliberate campaign of lies, deceit and calumny to discredit and besmirch others, such as some superbullies like to do to others they conside r a threat.
Didn't you read Arnaud de Borchgrave's book after he became a moonie?
