Beautiful Dali

Dali is simply beautiful, with snow-capped mountains, blooming tree blossoms, preserved history, and pleasant cool and dry weather. Our only problems are the filthy hippy backpackers and trying to figure out how in God’s name we’re going to make it to the East coast in time to catch our ferry to Japan. But we’ll worry about that later—in the meantime, photos!

You went to Dali Curzon! Wonderful, ask for my younger brother, John Shutze (many know him in the waigou de jiuba) he can show you around, depending on how long you intend to stay of course. I envy you as I look at these picutres of places I was at only 6 months ago. Livin the dream . . .

Alas, we're off to Lijiang early tomorrow -- would have been nice to meet all one member of Dali's GOP party. As it happens we saw a pretty badass fire (chemical/petroleum?) erupt from the city as we cruised the Eruhai Lake, so it wasn't all beautiful.

[...] Curzon’s latest installment includes some beautiful pictures from Dali. Here’s hoping the rest of his journey is free of poison “rhubarb!” Filed under China | [...]

Those of us "enjoying" a cold, damp US East Coast winter can get some vicarious pleasure in the picture of the blossom... beautiful indeed.

Don't tell the communist party there's a place with preserved history in China. They'll go over there and bulldoze it.
