Blueprint for Action

Thank you all who have voted and are voting for ComingAnarchy in the Weblog Awards. We are currently fourth place of twelve for the best blog design; here’s the tally at present:

ljc fyi: 690
GiggleChick: 546
Mom2Mom Connection: 301
ComingAnarchy: 283
The Shape of Days: 261
Demure Thoughts: 253

We’re behind, but we can win—with your help! If every reader voted—there are about two thousand of you every day!—we just might win this. Please, take just a few seconds to vote here. And remember that you can vote once every 24 hours, and there are five days remaining.

Please also consider voting for CA friends Save the GOP, Riding Sun, Major K, Zenpundit, Glittering Eye, and Registan in other categories.

I must admit to being disheartened about the process. Three of the best blogs in existence—Simon World, Marmot, and ESWN—are nominated for best Asia blog but are all running way, way behind… this.

And people wonder why I’m pessimistic about democracy.

I expect that Dan of tdaxp must be a factor for Xiaxue's lead...;o)

You are at 287 now BTW

Thanks Mark -- hopefully this post is motivating readers, it is, after all, a Blueprint for Action!

Xiaxue is why I'm not too out of sorts about not getting in for the final cut in the Asia category.

Now, the Satin Pajamas are what I really care about.

You have already voted once in the last 24 hours.

Sorry. I voted each day but we've not breaking through. That giggle chick must have one hell of a site!

Xiaxue is obviously the best Asian, but I don't think she has the best Asian blog.

Xiaxue's success is no surprise. Democracy naturally gravitates toward hot babes. See "here":http://www.ridingsun.com/posts/1110598500.shtml.

Actually I link Xiaxue from my blog, Occidentalism.org. My blog was also nominated for best new blog by CA's very own Curzon, but looking at the lineup of finalists for bests new blog, all I can feel is that the process is somehow seriously flawed. Doesnt the number of readers/commmenters account for anything?

shakuhachi, I think the process is as about as good as one could hope. It seems like Kevin has to pull teeth to get any help with it, and he gets loads of grief. When they get a heap of nominations for a category, they have to make snap judgments, especially if they are unfamiliar with the nominees. And because the Wizbang! awards are what they are, I invest a lot more time and interest in the Silk Pajamas (Europe) and Asia Blog Awards. (It's wonderful to be an in-between region blog.)

Neck and neck with the mom2momconnection, butt kicked by Giggle Chick. These are the times that try men's souls.

XiaXue's dominance was expected. I'm pleased that the anti-XX vote seems to be uniting behind mr brown. He does have a good site and is a true pioneer of blogging (over eight years now). It is very Singapore-oriented and much of his humor is isn't obvious to those with no experience in the city state.

Listen, all you need to do is fall in line behind Wendy Chung and you can have a shadow blog-government non-pareil. Yay for figureheads.

I think all the other Best Asian Blog nominees should post pics of themselves in that exact same Xiaxue pose, as a form of protest. It would be very, very funny.

Hey, I have to say congratulations on moving ahead -- you've got a great design. I followed the link to Gaijin Biker's site (above) and am intrigued by the blogroll of Japanese links -- I was once a gaijin myself -- still often feel that way. Caught between two cultures. I'm a big fan of Allen Say's picture books, by that way. (His newest release, Kamishibai Man, is excellent reading for anyone interested in Japanese culture.)

Thanks for the kind words Heather.

If Xiaxue was some risque blog about the fast life in Singapore I would understand it, but it's just a poorly written diary. This post on penis size is sited as "one of her popular posts.":http://xiaxue.blogspot.com/2004/04/hello-everybody-its-very-important-day.html

I must be too much of a Victorian fuddy-duddy.

LOL!

No, I have to agree with Curzon. Xiexue has never been a tdaxp babe, and she never will.

Now, if See Lai was in the running...

Curzon:
just this one time I will leave others speak for me what I think. Right from "Xiaxue":http://www.xiaxue.blogspot.com/ for you:

People are constantly harping on how my blog is not intellectual and thought-intriguing as other, more worthy, blogs are.

Enough! Once and for all, shut the fuck up and stop being a pretentious bigot trying to prove to the world how superior you are by the pretentious blogs you read.

That's the way I like to write, and there are people who enjoy it. Why constantly try to change something other people like?

There are 22.5 million blogs for you to choose from, dude... Go ahead, give another genre a shot if you don't like bimbos and entries on how to do your make up.

I'm sure there is a blog out there which will fit your interests... That day I just saw one seeking readers who have the common habit of digging their assholes and smelling their fingers afterwards. That would suit you.

And don't come here already.

I have nothing against Xiaxue. I have nothing against the German Green Party. I have issues with them winning elections -- or, said better, it reconfirms my pessimism about democracy.

I still havent read a good answer yet. I will ask the most pertinent question in order to get the most cogent answer.

If you could, would you bang Xiaxue?

THAT is XX's answer to the criticism about her?! She just confirms all the allegations that she is herself pretentious, vain, foul-mouthed and vapid. Great advert though, if I want to read about ass-sniffing, I'll read her site.

Honestly though, you can't really ask people to always vote based on the quality of the content, it's like me asking myself why I love listening to Mariah Carey while driving.

J'adore your blog. Especially your tagline:Think Victorian, act Pagan.
For some odd reason, it makes me think of Godiva going at a tear, starkers, through the blogosphere!!!
Go for it!

BTW: Dontcha think some Chinese legends are nice, too. For example, in Xiyuji (journey to the West), the naughty Monkey raises havoc after he crashes the heavenly palace of XiWangMu, the Heavenly Queen of the West, and steals the fruit of immortality, the ...peach.
