Kaplan reviewed from the Kitty Hawk

We like to keep tabs on reviews of Robert D. Kaplan’s Imperial Grunts, both good and bad (see here, here, here & here). Eddie Beaver gives a comparative review Live From The FDNF.

The problem is that Kaplan's (DoD's?) view of US foreign policy priorities differs from the government's. They effectively did an about turn and swore allegiance to the United Nations a couple of months ago.

To illustrate, here is an an extract from his article in the June issue of Atlantic Monthly, titled "How We Would Fight China":

"The first thing to understand is that the alliance system of the latter half of the twentieth century is dead. Warfare by committee, as practiced by NATO, has simply become too cumbersome in an age that requires light and lethal strikes." The US government say they do not share this opinion.
