You Are To Blame!

Belarus President Says Sweden and Germany to Blame for His Mistakes

Belarus President Aleksander Lukashenko said Sweden and Germany should be blamed for everything that goes wrong in his republic because he used these two countries as models when setting his political goals.

“When I was a young president still, I set up my political objective aimed at building a socially-oriented economy and I have named the countries that were examples for us. These were technology-rich Germany and the socially-oriented economy built by the Swedish model,”Â? the Interfax news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying on Thursday.

“If we are doing something wrong we are not to blame, but rather you, because we have learnt from you,”Â? Lukashenko said when receiving credentials from newly-appointed Swedish ambassador.

After laughing for awhile, I paused, wait, could there actually be a bit of truth to that? =)

He has not learned the "Old Europe" trick of blaming the US for everything. Sadly this too will come to pass.
I am waiting for France to make some bizzare connection between their muslim riots and the US War on Terror. It usually comes out early, is it possible they won't do it?

Why pattern your country on mediocre models? Why not on the most successful models? I guess in the past, it was less clear that Sweden and Germany were actually built on models that would eventually diminish over time. But just as in any field, it makes sense to take the absolute best performers as your model of success (why waste time copying the mediocre?).

In all fairness, Germany was doing quite well at the time.

If he had it to do all over again, he would pick Paraguay and Bolivia.
