Freedom Fighters?  Thugs!

If anyone had any lasting doubt whether or not the thugs in Iraq were “Minute Men” or not, see here:

The two Moroccan embassy officials kidnapped in Baghdad will be killed because they are infidels, al-Qaeda in Iraq has said in a statement posted to the Internet. The group led by the Jordanian militant, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, said an al-Qaeda Sharia ‘court’ had interrogated the two men and found them guilty. The two Moroccans were abducted last week.

Al Qaeda killing Moroccan diplomats? For what, spite? Kicks? Couldn’t find any Americans?

They ARE thugs. I say this at the risk of sounding uber-nationalist. But equating al-Qaeda terrorists to patriotic freedom fighters is horrible. In our revolution, the Minute Men were fighting AGAINST tyranny, not for it.

For what? Disconnectedness. That's what al Qaeda in Iraq and the Baathists are great at.

They want to seperate their society from the developed world's, and targeting those guys who make modern relations work (such as diplomat) is part of a sensible, full-spectrum assault.

Is there anybody that they are not willing to kill? I don't doubt that they have strategies and campaigns that they execute intending to accomplish certain goals. Yet they never lack for an excuse to kill someone, even their own people, some of whom they drug or chain to car bombs. At some point strategy and the motivations of ideology give way to pathological mass murdering.

Kurtz: Are my methods unsound?
Willard: I don't see any methods at all, sir.
