Lastly, a bunch of us from RMC are going to see Jarhead this weekend. Not many like it. If you have access to the IMDB forums, there is some interesting reading.Here’s the money quote:

The Jarhead previews look very good to me. But I'm just a sucker for all the military action, the rythmic sounds, and Ray Charles saying Oo-Rah with emphasis.

But I've expected it to decend into either an anti-war diabtribe (considering Gyllenhaal is the lead character, and Kanye West gives the lead single) or just crumble into nothingness. Sad to hear it does so.

Don't know about Jarhead the movie, but the book was brilliant. If not quite at the level of Tim O'Brien's masterpieces, it's still a great book.

Gonna go to see the movie on Friday too, though. Hopefully not too big disappointment after the book...
