Guns and Steel

I was in the Philadelphia Museum of Art yesterday and saw a wonderful display of Arms and Armor. The collection focuses on Western Europe between the 13th and 17th centuries, but there are also some Persian, Turkish, Armenian, and Japanese pieces, plus some displays from antiquity.

Guns from Western Europe, 16th and 17th centuries

French Partisans from the 17th century

Swords and Armor from Turkish Anatolia

Corinthian Helmet

You can find similar displays in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

No germs? I guess you would have had to go down to the Mütter for that...

I love that weapons and armor collection there. Great museum all around.

I am not sure, but I think I may well have seen the same pieces in Sydney. Is it a traveling exhibit?
