Thomas P.M. Barnett, a strategic planner who has worked in national security affairs since the end of the Cold War, discusses long- and short-term challenges facing governments and institutions in a volatile world. A consultant and writer, Barnett is the author of the forthcoming The Pentagon’s New Map: Blueprint for Action. Previously, he served as a senior strategic researcher and professor at the U.S. Naval War College and advised officials in the office of the Secretary of Defense, the Central Command, the Special Operations command, the Joint Staff and the Joint Forces Command.

Kaplan was at the Steinhardt Building, 35 West 67th Street; Barnett will be at the 本館 at Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street. Plus it will be on a Sunday night, not a weekday lunch.
