Now is the time to rachet up the pressure on the Norks. We should not allow South Korea to lure us into a pact that does not include intrusive verification. The idea that we are going to pay Kim Jung Il to stop building WMD is repulsive if this is not tied to Human Rights!!!!! I believe the real issue is to improve conditions for the citizens of North Korea , that begins with regime change

Don’t get your hopes up yet. They could just be talking nice now because China wants to save some face since they are the host of the talks.

However, I do think China wants to get a deal worked out since it is in their interest to have a stable North Korea before the 2008 Olympic Games. The Chinese do not want a nuclear or refugee crisis emanating from North Korea overshadowing their moment of glory. Hopefully this is the start to something positive but don’t get your hopes up.

It’s everywhere now. I hope the inspections agreed to are the real intrusive kind…. but god damn if this holds up the Bush team has pulled off another big surprise.
