What a lovefest. The natural result of growing Chinese and Korean hostility towards Japan is leading to even better bilateral relations with the United States.
Bush, Koizumi agree to beef up allianceU.S. President George W. Bush and Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi agreed Tuesday to strengthen the alliance between the
two countries in their first talks since Sunday’s general election in Japan, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said. Bush called Koizumi to congratulate him on his victory in the House of Representatives election and praised him for his “strong leadership both domestically and in the war on terror,” McClellan said.
The two leaders “discussed how we could continue working together to further strengthen our alliance and advance global peace and security,” McClellan said.
Earlier in Tokyo, Japanese Foreign Ministry officials said Koizumi expressed Japan’s readiness to do its utmost to support those who have been hit by Hurricane Katrina, saying he expects authorities of the two countries to coordinate closely to that end. McClellan said Koizumi also extended his condolences to the American people in the aftermath of the hurricane.
Just remember that the longevity of this friendship could be ruined by differing expectations…
And speaking of beef, here’s one problem that is just begging to be solved.
