I might go to NYC for this one. To attend the lecture in Philly, you have to be an FPRI member, and that's $30 for students. Sorry Curzon, but I'm not paying that much for Kaplan.

Wish I were nearby! I think 30 bucks is worth it though.

I wish he was headed to Virginia...although I do have a friend that's a bookseller. Perhaps she'll try to add a stop on the Anarchy tour.

One question...The Jimmy Carter Library? I remember his op-ed piece after President Carter was awarded the Nobel. Do you think he'll start a 'tragic realist riot' and burn the place down?

Hey Curz,

Your post has me wondering now if the Chicago Council of Foreign relations will be doing a big promo talk with Kaplan like they did for Friedman when the Lexus & the Olive Tree came out -- going to have to check this one - thank you !

Hmm... 92nd Street Y, Carnagie, CFR, and Barnes & Noble in NYC. I'd assume the B&N one is free, any info on the others?

J.Kende -- more details are coming, and I'll make another post when I have all the information, but in a word, B&N is free (evening), CFR and Carnegie are PROBABLY for members only (, and 92Y is $16 admissions.

Interested in coming? I intend to go to the 92Y event.

Yeah, I'll make a point of going. Can bring one or two friends along also.

I was thinking the 92nd Street Y looked like a good bet. I used to go there all the time for science lectures and the like when I was in high school. Very comfy place, and I've been away for far too long.

I'll also give a go at reading Kaplan's new book before the event. Should be arriving on the 14th from Amazon.

Thanks for letting me know about Kaplan's tour on our site. Hopefully at some point he'll make to the foreign policy wasteland that is my hometown, Miami.

In addition to Kaplan's piece in the latest issue of The Atlantic he also has what I believe is another excerpt of his new book in the premiere issue of The American Interest.
