Syria here I come

Due to difficulties with the embassy in Berlin, I was forced to apply for my Syrian visa at the Washington DC embassy. I must say the Syrians were very polite and I had my visa back quickly (arrived there monday, back friday morning) though I did send it overnight. They were also very pleasant on the phone. As Curzon pointed out in the past, travelling to such places is actually easier than you think.

I'll be avoiding the border area with Iraq. The farthest east I'll probably head is Palmyra (Tadmur) though I do plan on visiting the Golan heights.
