Indonesian Justice

Via Macam-Macam: it’s one thing for me to avoid a moral judgment in a philosophical discussion about how many years a tourist, who is most likely innocent of smuggling drugs, should be jailed.

But it’s quite another thing when it comes to a comparison. Why does a convicted transnational pot smuggler get twenty years when two accomplices to deadly terrorism get just four ?

That makes about as much sense as America’s war on drugs. Way to go Jakarta—somehow I don’t think this will do much to stop the steadily decline in tourism to Indonesia. Pity Bali.
