Guide to sleeping in Airports

We’ve all had those long international hauls with multiple layovers before arriving to your destination, so sometimes it is nice to have a relaxing nap in an airport waiting room… or not! The Budget Traveller’s Guide to Sleeping in Airports provides information for planning your stay at le Hotel de Aerogare ahead of time, giving some tricks to staying safe and getting some needed shuteye. Bookmark this link for reference in the future when you have a 10 hour layover in Dushanbe.

Here is an exerpt from sleeping in Basra, July 2004:

If you want to sleep you will be left alone, but bear in mind that military personnel will not make the effort to be quiet around you – and will carry on telling smutty jokes at full volume – as they are all able to sleep through it. Although the terminal is air conditioned it’s still quite hot, so a towel or sheet will suffice instead of a sleeping bag. … Sleeping is possible, but earplugs and an eye mask would be a good idea, and expect to be woken frequently to be informed about delays and to be moved on to the ‘next’ departure lounge. Pack plenty of provisions and your sense of humour!

I wonder how they rated Hong Kong? If leaving the Mainland for an early flight out, GO THE NIGHT BEFORE. There is no early bus from Shenzhen to HK. There are padded benches long enough to stretch out on, it's luxuriously air conditioned, and snacks and drinks are nearby. Transport TO the airport is the only drawback.
