Ayman al-Zawahiri, the Egyptian militant who has been the right hand man of Osama bin Laden for two decades, has surfaced on our screens saying that “Al-Qaida is now an idea, not an organisation.” Here’s what else he had to say in the video released today:
“As for you, the Americans, what you have seen in New York and Washington, what losses you see in Afghanistan and Iraq … is merely the losses of the initial. If you go on with the same policy of aggression against Muslims, you will see, with God’s will, what will make you forget the horrible things in Vietnam and Afghanistan.
Really? If these guys were pulling of 9/11-esque attacks on a regular, even yearly basis, within the borders of the Western, developed world, we might be scared. But as Dr. Barnett said last month:
If this [the London bombings] is the big follow-up to Madrid a year-plus later, it’s pretty weak, and no, I am not that impressed by bombs going off at the same time. If this is the long, slow ramp-up of Al Qaeda’s civilizational war, then they haven’t got a chance.

It's being made into a movie by the brothers who did the Matrix series. The story centres around a Guy Fawkes-esque urban terrorist in a totalitarian England existing in a post-nuclear world. Interesting point in history to release that sort of movie.
