The message is much clearer now than it was before. Those who join up as recruits to AQ and affiliates are signing up to kill Muslims in much larger numbers than to kill Western infidels. Just as the bombing in London is only part of a long-term campaign of terrorism by Islamic fundamentalists, the terrorists consider the Iraq war part of a long-term campaign against Islamic civilization. Maybe these disgruntled kids in England would have lost their minds and become suicide bombers even if we hadn't invaded Iraq, but I do think that Iraq probably helped them justify the decision to themselves.
