The I in ICBM stands for “Intercontinental.”Â?

Going beyond the title (which is not my motive for linking to the post), this post by Saru is mighty amusing:

Say what you will about TMD, but trust me, “Nodong”Â? and “Deapodong”Â? aren’t Korean for “love thy neighbor”Â? and “come here and give me a hug you big galoot!”Â?

Funny stuff—go check it out.

Pretty good, I'd say. Saru's trashing of the "poverty" claimed commonly peddled by fool leftists is close but no cigar: poverty isn't cured by simply throwing money at it, that was the mistake made in post Soviet Russia, but by implementing sound institutional changes (ie, market reform) as well as sound policies (monetary stability). Speaking of which, the US should stop financing foreign countries left right and centre and stop propping up the UN (if they want global stability, all that money would go a lot further if it were spent on armanents). What the pacifists fail to grasp is that the global American hegemony, as it exists now, is infinitely preferable to the alternative (apolarity followed by a Russo-Chinese axis cementing itself into a major force). At least America's not a brutal dictatorship like China.

Kenneth,

I think you misunderstood me or I failed to make myself clear. I agree with you about poverty reduction - it isn't just about throwing money at the problem. And I think, based on recent comments I heard from USAID administrator Andrew Natsios, that this is beginning to sink in.

Thanks for your comments.

Reference the names given North Korean TBMs. The Nodong and Daepodong are named for the geographical locations where analysts first spotted them. I have no idea what the Nork's call them.
