CA 2.0: Problems with Columns

Hey all. I hope you are all enjoying the new Coming Anarchy 2.0. We went to press pretty quick with this design in order to get our new contributor Chirol online ASAP. I am the one here who bears all responsibilities for problems in the layout and design, and I am aware (and embarassed) about the center column drift in certain Internet Explorers on the Windows platform. Unfortunately I do not have the time to solve the problem right now (hopefully next week) but you all can of course get your CA hit via RSS, or download Firefox which is the best browser out there for Windows (CA looks perfect in it).

I will not forget all you IE users out there, I understand some people may check CA from public computers etc. and I promise to start hard work on it next week, as soon as I am done this current project I am on (deadline tomorrow).

Sorry about this lack in professionalism,

YH

... and all the credit for designing, from scratch, what is one of the best designed Wordpress blogs out there. Kudos!

When you first wrote this, you were right about it looking perfect in Firefox. The column seems to have now drifted over to the left a bit.

But, Curzon's right, the site is excellently built.

I think that's a temporary measure to counter the IE offset problem, where it sags to the right. This way at least it's easier to read in both browsers.

I was away this weekend and was playing with it at a friend's house with his PC IE. I couldn't get it lined up right and when I tried top return it to normal I guess I messed up, but couldn't tell coz all I had was IE to look at it.

This week I will have time to do some work on it and fix it for _all_ modern browsers.

So, the problem is the Link List in the left column kicks the center column over. That would explain why plain post pages look fine and only the Home and Archives pages looked off.

Hmmm... I thought it may have to do with list tags but even if I seperate them with break tags the center column still moves in IE. Must be a word-wrapping problem... I am still working on it so in the meantime I will hide the link list till I figure something out.

Sorry about this, I know how important it is to show our links so I will work as fast as I can.

Aha! I found the culprit! "EastSouthWestNorth.org's":http://www.zonaeuropa.com/weblog.htm link name was too long and so there was no line break so it forced IE's column to widen causing teh center column to move over. All should be fixed now! Curzon and Chirol, watch out for those loooooong link names!
