I think we all have to avoid the trap that he talks about—getting ahead of ourselves developmentally. There’s always room for some good old-fashioned pretentiousness, as we all know, but I am all too familiar with “28-year-olds acting like they’re 40”. Bo-ring! People like that have ruined wine for me for the rest of my life. To me it will always be the drink of snobby upper-class wannabes.

No, the women I can deal with. His take on DC —that it’s just a waypoint of post-college life and “growing up”—was a subtle blow to the maturity of anyone who wants to work their after college/grad school/law school (and there are lots of us).

My best friend lived in SF and thereabouts for a while after college (Cal), and then moved with his partner to D.C. They love being close to the political action, but find it hard being away from family and old friends. Otherwise, I only hear positive reports!
