Recently I added the link for liberalsagainsterrorism.com in our list and I thought I would just say a word about them. I found them through Chez Nadezhda a month or so back and have been reading them every day since. The extremely prolific Praktike (he posted 8 times yesterday, plus has his other blog to worry about) is the admin of the site, and posts along with a number of very smart young lads contributors. I recommend you check it out, and although they tend to be heavy on the Middle East and US politics, which is out of my league, it makes for some good reading and discussion. The TerrorWiki is also very cool.
Speaking of ME politics, I leave you with this interesting thought from Stratfor:
Tehran has asked for a united front with Syria. Damascus views Iran with suspicion. First, Syrian leaders are not sure what Iran can do for them; second, they are not sure Iran won’t negotiate a deal with the Americans, leaving the Syrians wide open. Our guess is that the regime in Syria responded to the Iranians with the demand for a down payment—some indicator that the Iranians were prepared to cross the Rubicon. The price we believe they asked was the life of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri. Hezbollah is an Iranian-founded and controlled Shiite group that is permitted to operate by Syria. The Syrians wanted al-Hariri out of the way and, if our conjecture is accurate, wanted Tehran to do this via Hezbollah.

nadezhda added these pithy words on 27 Feb 05 at 5:52 pm(cough, cough) I normally don’t get bent out of shape about either sexism or agism, but “very smart young lads”—sheesh! ;-)
Younghusband added these pithy words on 28 Feb 05 at 1:19 amOops… sorry bout that! I guess I sorta missed KatherineR (Who I have never seen post yet). To tell the truth, I didn’t even realize that Nadezhda was a woman until a few days ago when I stumbled across her profile. My apologies! Post edited.
