Japanese people really don’t like Koreans man. That much I can tell you. They just have this reflex that makes them sick to their stomachs whenever you bring up the subject. That is the ones who aren’t in love with Yong-sama. But then I haven’t met anyone who is into Yong-sama yet. But one thing I’ve also noticed is that the Korean geinoujin never win the games they are put in on TV. They might get in a few funny lines, but they’ll never get picked to date the millionaire hunk or eat the ultra high-class sushi.

Around 20% of the a country disliking us doesn’t bother me so much. That wouldn’t win an election. 25% of Americans think the holocaust never happened. There’s a good 25% of any country that is pretty nuts. In fact, this poll is pretty good. The polls that really bother me are the ones that say “Percentage of South Koreans who think DPRK is the biggest threat to their national security: 30%. Percentage of South Koreans who think the US is the biggest threat to their national security: 45%.”

Had a conversation touching on this issue with a South Korean friend last night. He was of the opinion that the majority of anti-Americanism in SK was nothing more than a trendy thing for bored college students to do in an attempt to look cool. (One might make a similar observation about a large percentage of youthful political protests in this country…)

Hmm. What’s their problem? Sure, they dislike Japan a lot more, but only 20.5% of South Koreans like the US? It’s quite frustrating, with thousands of US armed personnel there as a trip-wire… that WE pay for! Then, if we try to pull a few (not all) out, they get all pissy. Just had to get that out of my system.
