This was before his makeover as an Arab terrorist, a getup that came complete with gun holster, head scarf, and perpetual one-week of not shaving which he wore pretty regularly from the mid-1970s. Yes, long before Arafat decided to “go native,” he was an Egyptian national, an engineer by training, and even owned a contracting firm in Kuwait.
