I'm going out on a limb here since this isn't my area, (so feel free to correct any misperceptions Mr. Younghusband) but when I heard about this on the radio this morning, my first thought was that Putin's choice is a no-brainer. As long as an administration that strongly backs the "War on Terror" is in the White House, it remains difficult (though not impossible) to make a clear distinction between Russian territorial ambitions and acts of terror because Putin can always hide behind the terror threat as an excuse, especially if the "terrorists" in question might be Muslim.

It is a no brainer. But the fact that these people are making the endorsements public is rather stunning.
