Recently Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro KOIZUMI became the second world leader to endorse President Bush in the upcoming election. (in typical Japanese fashion he retracted the remark because it was an actual opinion)
I have my own theories on why Japan would like Dubya to stay in the driver seat (* cough * Kimjungil * cough *), but read the below article and let me know what you think. (Personally I think somebody needed to pay their rent, as this is a pretty lightweight “commentary”)
From JapanToday.com
…Koizumi believes that the best way to fight terrorism is to export democracy with Japanese dollars. He believes that Japan should have a permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council and that Bush is going to help him reach that goal.Koizumi also believes that joint military co-operation between the two countries is in the best interest for Japan’s current and future security, and that Bush’s refusal to side-step the interests of Japan and South Korea and to meet with North Korea alone, is also in the best interest of Japan. And finally, Koizumi trusts and honestly likes the man.
